Creating a book
Books let you group recipes into a curated collection with categories, a cover image, and an optional intro video.
Starting a New Book
- Open the Library in the desktop app
- Click New Book -- this opens the book in edit mode
- Give your book a title and description
- Optionally add a cover image (image button) or intro video (video button)
The intro video plays with an overlay on the cover image, giving readers a preview of your collection.
Adding Recipes
- In edit mode, click Add Recipes
- A recipe list with checkboxes appears
- Select a category to browse, then check the recipes you want
- Click Add to include them in the book
Recipes are deep-copied into the book -- the originals in your library remain untouched.
Organizing Content
Books are organized into categories (think of them as chapters), each containing recipes.
- Use the move up and move down buttons to reorder categories
- Use the move to buttons to move recipes between categories or change their order
- Add or remove recipes from any category
- Rename categories to match your theme
Layout Modes
Books support several layout modes for presentation:
- TOC & Description -- table of contents alongside the book description
- TOC Only -- just the table of contents
- Description Only -- just the description text
- Image Only -- a full cover image display
- Tags -- highlights the book's tags
- Details -- shows complete metadata
