Welcome KCG!

It is my pleasure to meet with you and discuss the Kennett Community Grocer initiative. Having just recently become a member/owner I am excited to hear about the project and how I can help it reach its goals before and after opening a store location in Kennett Square.

As you know I have just completed the initial version of a recipe editor/viewer application I call Foodie Moiety. I think there is some natural synergy between our two projects that could work to foster engagement in the community. Foodie Moiety is focused on making the process of cooking in your kitchen as efficient and enjoyable as possible. It allows users and authors to create, share, edit and publish recipes with formatted text, high def imagery, and video. Additionally, the application allows users to navigate a recipe hands free with voice commands and to save collections of recipe steps for re-use in different recipes. So Foodie Moiety is a great way to make use of the ingredients you will be able to find at the KCG :-).

When I first looked over the KCG website I noticed that the project is looking for donations in addition to new member/owners and volunteers. I liked the project right away and I’m happy to be a part of it. Naturally I started thinking about how we might use Foodie Moiety to bring awareness and resources to KCG.

One thing that got my attention was an article I found on the KCG website under KCG in the News. It mentioned that when the store opens there are plans to offer cooking classes on site. I feel like that would be a great opportunity for us to take the recipes from those classes (including images and some short instructional videos) and publish those recipes in the Foodie Moiety format so that users can freely download them and take advantage of the features the app has to offer. We could setup KCG as an “author” on foodiemoiety.com and post articles under the KCG banner to promote the store and its classes and make recipes available for download. I have the ability to white list a website domain in my application so that we can provide links inside the recipes that could open to a desired page on the KCG website to further enhance engagement. We can also provide links to KCG in the articles we post on foodiemoiety.com as well. For instance we might want to bring attention to a sale that is going on or an event that is happening.

Those are just a few ideas off the top of my head. I really look forward to any ideas you might have and how I can be of help. At the top of this demo article I’m providing a link to a Foodie Moiety Demo recipe that can be downloaded and opened in the app. Its not an actual recipe but rather an example of the capabilities of the app that we can use to enhance our discussion on how the app might be of use to KCG. We can go over that functionality in the demo so you have an idea of what the application has to offer.

We encourage feedback on the articles and recipes published on foodiemoiety.com. All comments are moderated before being published. The moderation process takes time so comments will not show up immediately on posting and may be removed at the moderators discretion.
