Foodie Moiety App Update (Auto Play/Loop Video)

Auto play and loop video when navigating to new step.

Today’s update addresses a feature we mentioned in the TODO list article last week. Specifically, the ability to have a short video play automatically and loop when navigating to a particular step. Its a convenience feature that will allow you to present short repeating video content to the left of the recipe view while also displaying the ingredient and direction panes at the same time. When editing a recipe you will see the new action button when choosing the video component on a step that has a video associated with it. Toggle that video repeat button to get the aformentioned behavior.

This update and the previous update which provided proper book editing functionality were the low hanging fruit in the TODO list. There is still some work to do with Foodie Moiety going forward, but the app is basically feature complete so as of now we are transitioning away from active development to concentrate on content creation. For purposes of generating video and image content for Foodie Moiety recipes its important that we have a mobile video recording and editing solution that we can use to produce multi-cam video clips to be used in the application. For instance we may want to record the cooking process with an overhead and front view at the same time and then seamlessly combine those views in a single timeline.

The best hardware tools I have available to accomplish this task are a Macbook Pro and a couple of Iphones. For video editing I’ll be using Final Cut Pro on the Mac since it has some nice built-in features for multi-cam editing. I’ll have more to say on the process in a later article and some Foodie Moiety recipes to show off the results. For now, Foodie Moiety is ready for your input so, if you are inclined to, create some content and share it with friends and family or share it right here on foodiemoiety.com. We can’t wait to see what you do with it!
