Antonia’s Pizza Rocks!

One of the nice things about having a blog to go along with the Foodie Moiety app is that I can write about whatever I feel like. Kennett Square is my hometown and its kind of a foodie town so you can expect to see some articles talking about the food scene in Kennett. Especially when it comes to pizza. We have some very good pizza options in the borough and the surrounding area and I’m in the process of improving my home pizza game with my kitchen oven and a Gozney Dome on my patio. Suffice it to say that I have a long way to go if I’m ever going to make pizza as good as I found today at Antonia’s on 473 E South Street in Kennett Square.

Just down the street from the high school, Antonia’s is a small shop predominantly setup for takeout, although there are some standing shelves to eat at and some outside patio furniture on certain days. You can stop in and get slices or order ahead for pies. I guess they have been open for several months now. I have passed by the location regularly but it was not clear to me that they were open for business. Well, today I stopped in to check it out. They had several pre-made pies ready for serving slices. My initial take was that the pies were a little thicker than I usually like but the crust looked good so I ordered a slice with pepperoni and a coke and sat down outside to eat. I don’t know how they do it. The crust is light and flakey and crispy and chewy all at the same time. The pepperoni is cupped and slightly charred. Perfect amount of cheese without overdoing it. Delicious! Best in Kennett in my opinion. That’s pretty much the exact review I posted on Yelp where you can find plenty more rave reviews for the place. I highly recommend it.
